If you are inspired to become a Forest School Educator and want to gain experience in an outdoor classroom environment, we invite you to message us. The educators at Seedkeepers all hold a Masters Degree and have participated in lab school environments, STEM curriculum building, are serving members of the regional STEM board, teach and tour higher education classes, create inclusive environments, and provide training on health and safety aspects within a forest school model. A hands-on internship model allows you to build confidence and gain experience in outdoor education, early childhood behavior; and physical, emotional, and social development. We guide holistically trough Waldorf education practices that encompass the head, heart, and hands of each individual child.

full-time Educator and part-time educator, working with children ages 4-9
About: Educators at Seedkeepers are passionate about nurturing an environment for children ages 3-9 that encourages their social and emotional growth, as well as supports inquiry-based experiences in a 100% outdoor, nature-immersed setting. The ideal candidate is one who supports the implementation of the daily rhythm of activities based on principles of child development and in accordance with the program's mission. The ideal candidate has a love of helping children deepen connection to self, nature, and others through nature-immersed experiences like hiking, gardening, animal care-taking, reasoning and problem solving,, tracking and observing the changing landscape, seasonal celebrations, etc.
All of our educators must be passionate about providing a safe and nurturing environment, therefore must demonstrate the ability to nurture and promote positive growth, embody compassion towards all children, demonstrate a love of learning, model thoughtful relationship with nature, and be culturally sensitive to and aware of individual needs.
Position Hours and Schedule:
8:30a-2:30p, Monday through Thursday

Responsibilities:
Model positive interactions, teachable learning experiences, and self care
Ensure each child's physical needs are met (hydration, proper gear for weather, dry socks, bug bite prevention, etc)
Supervise developmentally appropriate activities: provide materials to enhance learning opportunities, allow space for discovery, and actively seek child-led teaching moments
Maintain a safe learning environment-- Follow and enforce all safety guidelines associated with each learning space at Seedkeepers
Work independently and as a team with other program educators
Observe each child daily to assess skills and interests and to cultivate opportunities for deeper understanding and growth
Foster reasoning and problem solving in a multi-age group setting
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
*College and/or advanced degree in education, outdoor recreation, or another related field preferred
*Prior experience working with young children in an educational, recreational, or therapeutic setting
*Experience working/volunteering in outdoor settings
*Must pass Federal Background Check
*In relation to both positions: We want to emphasize: Seedkeepers is 100% outdoors-- rain or shine.
